→ Instructions on how to upgrade the firmware can be found at the NextGen support website here.
After having plugged the USB flash drive in the NextGen Paycheck to upgrade its firmware, the buzzer will get stuck either ON or OFF during the process. This is normal. Do NOT at any given time remove the USB flash drive from the NextGen Paycheck, even when the buzzer is stuck ON or OFF, before it has reset and printed its Power Report.
Note that the buzzer issue will not occur by using a SD card with the USB flash drive to force upgrade the NextGen Paycheck firmware. Although, it will take longer to complete compared to only using a USB flash drive.
All that needs to be done at this point is waiting that the NextGen Paycheck finishes upgrading the firmware on its own. Once the firmware upgrade has finished, the printer will beep rapidly to indicate that the USB flash drive can be safely removed. It will then reset and print a Power Report.
⚠ WARNING: DO NOT remove the USB flash drive from the NextGen Paycheck while it is performing a firmware upgrade. ⚠
This
WILL result in bricking the NextGen Paycheck Firmware. An SD card will
be needed to recover and re-flash the NextGen Printer firmware.
→ If the NextGen Paycheck firmware has been bricked, please consult Section 2 of the Firmware Upgrading & Recovery Instructions document found here.
